    Our History

    Diamond Jim

Standing on a golf course at Canterbury Golf Club in Marietta, Jim Anderson, purchased a small business that evolved into one of Georgia's oldest and largest pawnshops. Jim (pictured above), a Marietta native who was a real estate agent prior to owning pawn shop, bought County Line Pawnshop from a friend and former business partner in 1986.” It was started by a friend of mine who brought me in a few months later so he could have some time off,” Jim said. “I had never been in a pawnshop in my life.”

Jim said he decided to purchase the business after witnessing the pawnshop’s original owner interact with customers. “He wouldn’t take care of customers the way I wanted to take care of them,” he said,”He would take advantage of customers and I couldn't cope with that,” Jim emphasized customer service and said he always expected his employees to respect their customers.

As someone who did not have any experience owning and operating a pawnshop before, Jim had to learn quickly the best ways to operate the business. His son, Wes Anderson,  began working at the pawnshop part-time in 1988 while he was a student at Kennesaw State University before leaving KSU to pursue a full-time position at the shop.

“It’s turned into a phenomenal, awesomely fantastic 25-year tenure to be able to be with my dad,” Wes Anderson said of his work at the Pawnshop.

Now the owner of the pawnshop, Wes still upholds his father's values of always putting the customer first. County Line lives of three core values:

    "Always put the customer first"

    "Treat every customer as family"

"Never close your door on a customer in need"

Here at County Line, we respect our community and we will do whatever it takes to make you feel like apart of the family. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us. Have a great day!
